Privacy Policy
Effective date: [DATE — set when published]
Draft for review. Items in [brackets] must be filled in, and this policy should be reviewed by a lawyer before the app launches.
This policy explains what information the Fuber app and fuberusa.com (together, "Fuber") collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. Fuber is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME] ("we", "us").
Information we collect
- Account information. When you open the app we create an account identifier so your list and settings can be saved. If you choose to add a display name, other members of your household (and, for points leaderboards and chef classes, other Fuber users) can see it.
- Household content. Shopping list items, pantry items, budgets, finished trips, recipes, meal plans and meal-poll votes you create. These are shared only with the members of your household, except recipes you choose to share with all users.
- Contributions. Store names and locations, shelf prices, aisle locations and product photos you submit. These are shared with all Fuber users to help them shop; they are not shown with your name.
- Location. With your permission, the app uses your device's location while you are using it to find nearby stores and to tell when you are in a store. We do not track your location in the background. When you add a store, its location is saved; your own location history is not.
- Camera. With your permission, the camera is used to scan barcodes and to take product photos you choose to upload. Barcode scanning happens on your device.
- Live classes. Classes you host or sign up for. Classes and their hosts' display names are visible to all users.
- Early-access sign-up. If you join our list on fuberusa.com, your email address and optional ZIP code.
How we use information
- To provide the app's features: your shared list, pantry, budgets, meal plans, polls, price comparisons, aisle finder and trip planning.
- To award points and badges, and to prevent spam and abuse.
- To contact early-access sign-ups about Fuber's launch. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To keep Fuber secure and to improve it.
We do not sell your personal information.
Services we use
- Supabase hosts Fuber's database, sign-in and photo storage.
- Open Food Facts receives the barcode of an item you look up, to return its name and photo.
- Amazon. "Order Now" buttons open Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, Fuber earns from qualifying purchases. Amazon's own privacy policy applies on Amazon.
- YouTube. Cooking tutorials and live classes open on YouTube. Google's privacy policy applies there.
- Expo builds and delivers app updates.
Keeping and deleting information
Household content is kept until you delete it or leave the household. Shared prices expire from view after 21 days and aisle locations after 120 days. To delete your account and the content tied to it, contact us at [PRIVACY EMAIL]; we will respond within 30 days.
Children
Fuber is meant for families, but accounts are intended to be set up by adults. Fuber is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, and to ask us to delete it. Contact us at [PRIVACY EMAIL] to make a request. We will not treat you differently for doing so.
Security
Fuber uses encrypted connections, and its database only lets each household read its own private data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
